As you may have noticed in that sentence, most of the film’s in the list of ‘highest grossing films of all time’ are either sequels or spin-offs from already successful franchises, with only three actually being stand-alone films (Titanic, Avatar and Frozen).
With franchise films, fans will often go to the cinema without considering reviews or anyone else's opinion, but surely you would expect the films that attracted the most people to the cinema to be the best films?
Who am I kidding, the top films are by no stretch of the imagination the best, but that doesn’t mean we can’t rank them. So here it is, the ten top grossing films of all time ranked.
