As Star Wars fans across the world join together to celebrate International Star Wars, toy company Lego has marked the occasion by releasing an impressive time-lapse video showing the construction of world’s largest ever Lego Millennium Falcon.
The minute-long clip released today, shows Lego Master Builders Dan and Chris Steninger along with the hundreds of Star Wars fans building a five-metre recreation of Han Solo’s iconic spacecraft at the Westfield Southland mall in Melbourne.
Speaking to Press at the event, Dan Steininger said: “Usually models the size of the Millennium Falcon can take more than a week to build and it was thanks to the Aussie fans that we were able to build a model of this size in such a short time.”
International Star Wars Day falls every year on 4 May.
Chosen for the fact that a pun on the well-known Jedi saying “May the force be with you” can be made out of the the date, International Star Wars day has grown into an event in which Star Wars fans can celebrate George Lucas’ movie franchise globally.
This year’s celebrations take on extra significance with the latest instalment of the series of films set to be released in December this year.
It also comes on the same day that Chancellor of The Exchequer confirmed that Star Wars VIII will be filmed in Buckinghamshire's Pinewood studios.
