Actress Asia Argento has criticised Monty Python star Terry Gilliam after he compared the #MeToo movement to "mob rule".
The Italian actress and filmmaker, herself a Harvey Weinstein accuser, said she was "disgusted" by the Monty Python member's controversial remarks in which he suggested the anti-sexual harassment campaign had led to a "world of victims".
While describing disgraced producer Weinstein a "monster" in an interview with Agence France Presse news agency, he said: "Harvey opened the door for a few people, a night with Harvey - that's the price you pay."
He added: "I think some people did very well out of meeting with Harvey and others didn't. The ones who did, knew what they were doing. These are adults; we are talking about adults with a lot of ambition."
Argento - who was one of the first actresses to go public with her Weinstein allegations - wrote on Twitter : "Angered, disgusted by Terry Gilliam's views on £metoo."
She revealed the pair shared the same director of photography, Nicola Pecorini, adding: "I hope Gilliam hasn't forgotten how Weinstein hated Nicola's cinematography (he considered it too dark) and how the monster subsequently fired him.
She added: "Gilliam went on shooting his shit."
"Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty," she added in another post.
In October Argento alleged she was assaulted by Weinstein while working on the 1998 film B. Monkey.
The film was distributed by Miramax, a company co-founded by Weinstein, who has "unequivocally denied" all allegations of non-consensual sex.
Earlier, director Judd Apatow labelled Gilliam's comments "idiotic and dangerous".
"He wasn't in those rooms. He doesn't know how aggressive and violent and terrifying he (Weinstein) was. Who is he to say it was some sort of offered deal? He should be ashamed of himself," Apatow wrote on Twitter.

Similar to the stories told by other women, Weinstein drove the actor home, only to reportedly burst into Sciorra's apartment and start unbuttoning his shirt. “He shoved me onto the bed, and he got on top of me,” Sciorra said. “I kicked and I yelled.” Weinstein then allegedly locked her arms and forced sexual intercourse on her. She told a press conference in New York that she felt pressured into telling Weinstein she was staying at the Sanderson Hotel after being put on the spot. Malthe, now 43, said after her shift on February 10 she went back to her room and went to sleep, but was awoken by "repeated pounding" on her door, from someone yelling: "Open the door Natassia Malthe, it's Harvey Weinstein." Feeling humiliated, she said she opened the door. She alleged Weinstein began implying sex would get her a role in an upcoming film while semi-undressed and then he began to masturbate. "I was sitting on the bed talking to Harvey when he pushed me back and forced himself onto me. It was not consensual. He did not use a condom," she said.

But she said shortly after it started he "insisted" in front of his children that she follow him and she was led to his bedroom. The Kenyan-Mexican actress, now 34, said she felt pressured into giving him a massage after he offered her one. "Before long he said he wanted to take off his pants," she wrote."I told him not to do that and informed him that it would make me extremely uncomfortable. He got up anyway to do so and I headed for the door, saying that I was not at all comfortable with that." Over the years that followed, he continued to get in touch, Nyong'o said, and when she declined another proposition she felt her career was threatened.

Sherrell labelled Gilliam "insensitive" and accused him of "ruining Monty Python forever" while Barkin tweeted: "Terry Gilliam, you talk too much."
