From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

First it was a mock romantic comedy, then a lampoon of The Hangover Part II, and now Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang have done a send-up of Green Lantern for the film's latest trailer, released June 16, just before Ryan Reynolds's film releases this weekend.

The teaser trailer opens with Reynolds's voiceover, "In brightest day...in darkest night," the Green Lantern's pledge, but when he continues with a reference to lack of height, a banjo and "green froggie's light," it is clearly not about the superhero film.

This time, the promo takes on action thrillers, tying in Green Lantern with Kermit's famous line: "It's not easy being green!"

Writer/star Jason Segel ( Gulliver's Travels) suddenly stops the action to ask the Muppets and costar Amy Adams ( The Fighter): "Is this another Muppets trailer parody? Why don't we show a real trailer? I mean, what are we hiding? Did we make the movie in Swedish or something?"

Despite the Chef's appearance, the viewer is assured it's not in Swedish.

The Muppets return to theaters on November 23.
