The first film trailer for the adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern, in 3D, starring Ryan Reynolds ( The Proposal, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), was released November 16.

The film by director Martin Campbell ( Casino Royale) also stars Blake Lively ( The Town), Peter Sarsgaard ( An Education), and Tim Robbins ( Mystic River).

The sci-fi action-adventure centers on Hal Jordan, a test pilot transformed into a superhero with a powerful green ring given to him mysteriously to join an intergalactic squadron of peacekeepers.

The footage reveals Reynolds in the CGI emerald uniform created by Kent Houston, who handled the visual effects for The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen and Casino Royale.

Interspersed with witty banter, the furiously paced trailer covers a lot of ground, from Hal's ejection from a fighter jet and encounter with Abin Sur, who passes on the ring, to the introduction of Sinestro and Dr. Hector Hammond.

The Green Lantern gets thrust into tough situations, faces his fear, and triumphs, reciting his vow: "In brightest day, in darkest night..."

The film is scheduled to hit theaters in 3D and 2D on June 17, 2011.

This international version of the trailer includes English voiceovers with Spanish language subtitles:
