Based on the book by Daniel H Wilson, Drew (Cloverfield) Goddard was adapting.
Bridesmaids guy wooed by Fox
Director Paul Feig has attracted the backing of 20th Century Fox after the success of Bridesmaids. He has signed a first-look deal with the studio to direct and produce comedies for Fox via his Feigco Entertainment banner. First up for release is comedy The Heat starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
Burglars target Anchorman
The Atlanta production offices for Anchorman: The Legend Continues were broken into recently. But it wasn't collectables from the movie – starring Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Steve Carell – that the burglars were after; the thieves stole $300,000 in electrical equipment.
The oldest bank robbers in town
The New Line-backed remake of 1979 movie Going in Style has hired veteran TV director Don Scardino to helm. The original starred George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg as seniors who, tired of a life of feeding pigeons and waiting for Social Security checks, decide to rob a bank.
Plans for a post-male world
Big screen plans for Y: The Last Man, the post-apocalyptic comic tale created by Brian K Vaughan and Pia Guerra, are being drawn up. Dan Trachtenberg, a commercial director, will direct the tale of the last human survivor of a mysterious plague that has killed every male mammal in the world.
A monster of a legal battle
Should Godzilla, the Japanese monster, make it back to the big screen with Gareth Edwards directing, it will have been the subject of a monster legal battle of its own. Studio backers Legendary Pictures have taken legal action against the producers on the project, suing them to get them to step away from it.
