EVENTS: PICK OF THE WEEK
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Various venues
Come Boxing Day, the odds are that most of the population will be sick to the giblets of the whole overblown Christmas experience. What we need is some fresh air and a bracing walk. With this in mind, strolls have been arranged at a range of National Trust properties including Branscombe in Devon (10.30am, 30 Dec), Purbeck Estate near Swanage (10am, 29 Dec), Woodchester Park near Stroud (11am, 30 Dec) and Ham House in Richmond (11am, 28 Dec). And for those truly fed-up with the festivities there's a Bah Humbug walk at Devil's Dyke near Poynings, West Sussex (2pm, 28 Dec).
26 Dec to 1 Jan, for details call 0171-222 9251 or visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk
