"NOW there is a fourth tenor," proclaimed one critic after witnessing Roberto Alagna's performance in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette at the Royal Opera House last November. Michael White, in the Independent on Sunday, called it "the most spectacular vocal performance I've heard all year". Still in his early thirties, Alagna is now widely regarded as the brightest young star in the opera firmament, and his debut CD is one of the more eagerly awaited opera releases of the year. Featuring popular tenor arias from Donizetti, Massenet, Rossini, Verdi, Bizet and, of course, Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, it is available in record shops, but we have 20 CD copies to give away, courtesy of EMI Classics. To enter, simply answer the following question:

In what role did Roberto Alagna make his Covent Garden debut?

Answers, on a postcard please, to: ALAGNA, Arts Desk, Independent on Sunday, 1 Canada Sq, Canary Wharf, London E14 5DL. Usual competition rules apply; the editor's decision is final. The closing date for entries is Mon 30 Oct.
