According to a California Highway Patrol incident report obtained by CNN, Hart and the driver, Jared Black, sustained “major back injuries” and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Black was reportedly driving Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when he lost control of the vehicle and it went off-road and rolled down an embankment.
Two of the three occupants were trapped in the vehicle – Hart left the scene to get medical attention. Police said the driver had not been drinking.
Photos published by TMZ showed the car after the accident, which showed the car had suffered considerable damage. According to the publication, the fire department had to saw the roof off to free the two occupants who were pinned to their seats.
Following the news, Hart's fans and fellow celebrities – including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bryan Cranston – posted their hopes for his speedy recovery on social media.
