Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

FUNKY BUNKER @ fridge bar

Brixton's Fridge Bar just gets better and better, and queues for the Bunker ever longer. Inside, a mature, cosmopolitan crowd dances to rare grooves and R'n'B classics from the Eighties onwards. The brightly coloured upstairs bar is far enough from the bass bins to allow conversation, while downstairs is so packed that you don't know whose bottom you've just fondled by mistake. This gig gets rammed very early on, so arrive early to experience the fabled Brixton vibe.

SLINKY @ the opera house

Forget Star Wars; few people are aware that a struggle between good and evil is taking place much closer to home - in Bournemouth. For years, senior citizens have held sway in the town, maintaining bingo nights at the zenith of local nightlife. The rebellion, led by Slinky, has united Bournemouth's bright young things under the hedonistic banner of clubbing excellence. Uplifting house in the main room and drum'n'bass elsewhere, with a great crowd and dark tunes assured. No one leaves Slinky disappointed.
