Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

SUNDISSENTIAL @ pulse

Having spent the last two years doing the rounds of Midland venues, Sundissential has now returned to Pulse.

The night attracts an intriguing mix of punters from fetish queens to clubbers in fancy dress, as well as a lot of boys with punkily spiked hair.

Since the clientele come ready to party, it's only fair that the DJs keep the party swinging. Sundissential champions a brand of high-energy house that manages to be funky, techno-laced and uplifting - all at the same time.

The excellent Seb Fontaine takes centre stage on the Technics with support from John "00" Fleming, so you know that you'll hear innovative mixing and top tunes all night long.

Birmingham is fast becoming the clubbing centre of the North with more great club nights than you can shake a stick at. If this one takes root then Sundissential is around the top of the list, though it does feel a little strange moving the region's most famous Sunday gig to a Saturday night.

Saturdays, Hurst Street, Birmingham (0121-236 8277) 9.30pm-4am, pounds 10- pounds 12
