Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

PRETZEL LOGIC @ the junction

Over the last couple of years thousands of people have been making their way to Brixton to sample the rash of clubs and bars which have been springing up there. Mass has promoted some great nights so far, while the Fridge Bar and The Dogstar (known as The Dogbag to its friends) regularly pack them in.

Hedonists, literally willing to travel the extra mile for a good night out, should head down Coldharbour Lane to Loughborough Junction where the monthly gig Pretzel Logic has returned to the area where it first started.

Toni Rossano displays his considerable mixing talents over six hours at this converted pub. In fact, it's still a pub, but that helps to maintain Pretzel's relaxed vibe - or perhaps that's just down to the cheap booze.

Deep house, with a little bit of whatever tickles Toni's fancy, makes for an impressive night out, just the ticket to ease yourself back into action after last week's New Year's Eve carnage. Best of all, entrance is free if you arrive early or sweet-talk one of the friendly, but ooh- so-large door staff. Catch it if you can, as it only runs here once a month.

Fri, 242 Coldharbour Lane London SW2 (0171-207 5515) 9pm-3am free/pounds 3- pounds 9
