Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Since it underwent a recent refurbishment, Emporium has been crying out for a sure-fire venue filler and in The Lick! they've found one.

Trevor Nelson (above) presents his show of the same name on MTV. After interviewing the best R'n'B performers, this hopelessly oversubscribed gig gives Trevor and his pals an excellent excuse to extend the party. Anyone who managed to get inside last time will know that it was worth the wait.

Queuing is likely, as Emporium's notoriously surly doormen try their best to complicate your entry into the club. Once inside you can judge the refit for yourself. The best vantage point is the VIP area, where all kind of capers abound.

Kingly Street could well be the narrowest street in W1, but that will not stop a succession of luxury cars inching their way up to the door to make a very public appearance. Is it worth the hassle? Definitely. You're going to hear the best in R'n'B and hip-hop rhythms amidst a up for it crowd lightly sprinkled with a few celebrities. If you have a Ferrari bring it down and guarantee entry.

Friday, 62 Kingly St, London W1 (0171-734 3190 ) 10pm-5am, pounds 10
