CLUB OF THE WEEK
PROGRESS 7TH BIRTHDAY @ time
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. You'd think that after seven years I'd be able to capture the success of Progress in a sentence or two, but I'm struggling. The problem isn't finding good things to say, but which highlights to leave out. Many clubs boast about their "unique" atmosphere but Progress's reputation has been forged over seven years by energised punters. In the fickle realms of clubbing, that's a long time.
A trip to Progress offers a club promoter who is a skirt-wearing social worker, a fruit and veg stall, a door picker with vampire teeth, impromptu games of Stars in their Eyes and one of the country's best club nights.
There's not much chance of getting into the VIP room unless you really are famous, but the real action takes place on the dance-floor, where every dedicated Hedonist in the Midlands works up a sweat. Tall Paul, Boy George, Lisa Loud and residents Pete and Russell play uplifting tunes with a hard edge. Don't miss!
Mansfield Road, Derby (01332 345860) tonight, 10pm-6am, pounds 9-pounds 11
