FOR the string player who has everything, there will soon be a new appendage: the Yehudi Menuhin Chinrest. It comes with a 'floating' chin pad with a height setting control knob, mounted on a swivel and rotary mechanism. The makers (at the South London Innovation Centre) claim it removes the rigidity associated with normal chinrests, and Menuhin has already had one fitted. Would it have saved Nigel Kennedy an operation? Road test reports please: it goes into the shops in June at pounds 36.95, distributed by Barnes & Mullins.
