After previous novels set in the Welsh valleys, Barry Pilton's latest full-bodied farce is set in the tiny town of Abernant.

Outsiders might be charmed by the area's natural beauty, but locals regard their home as a godforsaken hellhole. When news of an act of vandalism puts the town firmly on the map - shocking the leading lights of the Welsh art world - the police station is forced to re-call essential personnel from the nearby doughnut shop. Described as "Postman Pat for adults" , Pilton's fertile imaginings are more about rural depravity than deprivation.
