The Swiss photographers Alban Kakulya and Yann Mingard set out from opposite ends (north and south) of Europe's eastern extremes, each armed with their favourite camera and a GPS receiver.
The result is a captivating book documenting the continent's outer margins. In the first section, "Landscapes", each image is captioned by its GPS reference (N58 13' 25.5'' – E27 28' 31.7'', left). "Portraits and Infrastructure" shows the guards and detainees who exist in the vacant landscapes. The last section shows satellite images which stress the point that we are tiny elements in a huge landscape.
