From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Extracts from Tony Blair's memoir A Journey are set to be posted online on August 31, according to an announcement made the same day in The Bookseller. The excerpts will be the first to be made available in advance of the book's September 1 UK publication.

A Journey will cover Blair's experiences while serving ten years as British prime minister. Blair's UK publisher Cornerstone plans to post excerpts on www.tonyblairjourney.co.uk, a website devoted to the book, on the night (London time) of August 31, just ahead of publication the following morning.

According to The Bookseller, Amazon has said A Journey is "on target to become biggest political memoir of all time on Amazon.co.uk," surpassing presales of Peter Mandelson's The Third Man, the site's current most successful politican memoir, which was released in July.

Blair is making an international tour to promote A Journey, which is due out in the UK on September 1 and in the US a day later. E-book and audio versions will be sold alongside the hardcover edition.
