A roster of celebrities including Daniel Radcliffe and David Beckham will read JK Rowling‘s beloved novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in its entirety.

Rowling’s Wizarding World announced the Harry Potter At Home event on Twitter, along with seven of the famous faces who will be recorded for the series of video readings: Radcliffe, Stephen Fry, Beckham, Dakota Fanning, Claudia Kim, Noma Dumezweni and Eddie Redmayne.

The tweet reads: “Surprise! We’ve got a treat for you…From today, amazing friends of the Wizarding World are going to take turns reading Harry Potter book one.”

“And to start us off with Chapter 1, we think you’ll agree we have the perfect narrator..”

The first chapter is read by Radcliffe, who rose to fame portraying the boy wizard in the Harry Potter film adaptations.

Each chapter will be read by a different celebrity, with new videos arriving weekly for the next 17 weeks.

Radcliffe’s reading of Chapter One can be watched for free here. The audio for each chapter will also be added to Spotify.

Harry Potter At Home is developed by Wizarding World Digital and Rowling’s agency the Blair Partnership, as a response to the coronavirus pandemic.
