From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

KFC have teamed up with the creators of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to release a special one-shot comic book about the adventures of Colonel Sanders.
Titled The Colonel of Two Worlds - a play on the name of the famous Flash comic, The Flash of Two Worlds - the DC comic sees an evil version of the Colonel pitted against the Justice League of America.
Villains Captain Cold and Mirror Master travel to a parallel dimension to team up with the evil doppleganger before taking on the likes of The Flash and Green Lantern.
This isn’t the first time Colonel Sanders has been in a comic book. Earlier this year attendees of the San Diego Comic-Con were able to pick up copies of The Hard Way, in which he received his very own superpower: the ability to fry chicken to perfection.
The DC/KFC special issue, made for the New York Comic Con, is available to download now for free.
