Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

BIG NAMES discussing even bigger subjects abound this weekend. Today's highlights include a rare appearance by the much-loved children's illustrator Quentin Blake, who talks about his 50-year career (10am); the controversial novelist and biographer DM Thomas lecturing on the work of the Nobel prizewinner Alexander Solzhenitsyn (10am); the writer and journalist Patrick Marnham discussing the turbulent life and art of Diego Rivera (1pm); and the editor of The Oldie, Richard Ingrams, talking to Harry Thompson, TV producer and creator of Have I Got News For You, about his old friend Peter Cook (5.30pm). Tomorrow will see, among others, the actor Steven Berkoff "perform" his latest short stories (12noon); Jeremy Paxman discuss what it means to be English (2.30pm); and Judi Dench in conversation with her biographer, John Miller (5pm).

To book, call 01242 227979 or fax on 01242 573902. Box office open daily, 9.30am-10pm.
