Dennis Potter was the Chaucer of the cathode ray tube: coming upon a brand new medium ('the palace of varieties in the corner of the room') he brought to it an art which no contemporary could match. After his very public death, and while waiting for the inevitable spate of biographies, these transcribed interviews are probably the best introduction to the man and his work. The interview form works well because Potter was so ferociously articulate that the top of his head often seems more interesting than most people's deepest reflections.
