Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

AS REGULAR readers will know, the Independent on Sunday has this season got together with English National Opera to arrange a series of 'IoS Nights' at the London Coliseum, giving readers the chance to see top-class opera at about 30 per cent off usual prices.

The last opera in this series is an acclaimed revival: of Philip Prowse's colourful 1987 production of The Pearl Fishers. Bizet's classic opera is set in ancient Ceylon and features one of the most famous duets of all, 'Au fond du temple saint', for tenor and baritone, sung here by John Hudson and Jonathan Summers.

Readers are invited to book now for the

performance of The Pearl Fishers on Friday 8 April. Tickets are available in the stalls and dress circle at around 30 per cent off English National Opera's usual prices. Seats in the stalls and at the front of the dress circle cost pounds 28 -

a saving of pounds 11.50; seats in the rest of the

dress circle cost pounds 20 - a saving of pounds 9.50. To book, either call in at the Coliseum, St Martin's Lane, London WC2, or ring the box office on 071-836 3161, quoting the reference INDOS. The box office is open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.

Offer subject to availability.
