One of the largest exhibitions of British Pop Art opens to the public at Christie’s Mayfair today.
When Britain Went Pop! explores the early years of the British Pop Art movement, with works from Peter Blake, David Hockney, Allen Jones, Patrick Caulfield and Richard Hamilton.
Curated in collaboration with the artists and their families, the exhibition shows how British Pop Art blurred the lines between popular culture and fine art.
Many of the works have not been exhibited publicly since the 1960s.
When Britain Went Pop! British Pop Art: The Early Years; Christie’s Mayfair, 103 New Bond Street; 9 October – 24 November; admission free
