WWDC: Apple sets date for conference, expected to announce iOS 9, new Apple TV and update for Beats Music

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will run from June 8 to June 12, and is likely to be where the company will reveal new products including an updated Apple TV and its overhauled Beats Music.

The event serves as a conference for developers to learn about Apple’s products as well as an opportunity for it to release new products. It will be held in San Francisco’s Moscone West and a record amount of it will be streamed online for those that can’t get to the conference.

In keeping with previous years, Apple is likely to announce updates to iOS and Mac OS, its operating systems for iPhones, iPads and computers. That will likely include the addition of Beats Music in iOS 9 — Apple is widely rumoured to be overhauling its entire music streaming services to take on Spotify.

The company could also launch new hardware, such as its expected update to the Apple TV. That seemed to be encouraged by the invites, which showed an Apple TV-like rounded square over which was overlaid the tag-line "The epicenter of change".

To get tickets, developers have to apply through Apple’s WWDC website before Friday. Tickets will be randomly allocated among all of those who apply, and Apple will also give out scholarships for students to win free tickets.
