LG V30 takes on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with huge screen and new camera features

It looks a lot like the G6, which was largely overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy S8 when both handsets launched earlier this year.
However, the V30 feels like a significant step up.
It’s a good-looking phone, but isn’t quite in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Note 8, the Android handsets it will go head-to-head with, in terms of design.
LG has instead focused on other areas.
One of its biggest talking points is its camera. It combines a 16-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation with a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor.
LG has also included a feature it calls “Cine Video mode”, which lets you zoom in on any subject in the frame and apply your choice of 15 filters to the footage.
You’ll be able to watch that footage on the V30’s large 6-inch, 2,880 x 1,440 “FullVision” OLED display, which covers most of its front face.
LG has also focused on audio, equipping the V30 with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC tuned by B&O PLAY.
It’s powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, and you can choose between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.
It’s water- and dust-resistant too, has face- and voice-recognition technology and a fingerprint sensor, and is available in black, silver, blue and purple colour schemes.
The V30 is coming out in South Korea first, on 21 September. LG hasn’t yet revealed how much it will cost.
