From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

LEGO Universe, the online multiplayer game featuring LEGO's iconic mini figures and building blocks, is to receive a new zone called Frostburgh for thirty days from November 30 onwards.

Players will be able to take part in snowball fights, build houses out of gingerbread, search for candy canes and tame new reindeer pets as well as meet new characters with names such as Sugarplum Fritz and Hansel Tinseland.

One of the game's racetracks is also to receive a seasonal make-over, and players will be given a new mission to complete for each day of Frostburgh's Frostivus festival period.

The add-on is unlikely to distract too much from World of Warcraft's December 7 expansion, Cataclysm, which too is an enthusiasm-boosting addition for a fellow subscription-based computer game.

On the other hand, LEGO Universe is like Club Penguin, MapleStory, and Hello Kitty Online, in that it's aimed at a wider age-range and, quite often, at parents and children looking for a Warcraft equivalent that they can play through together.
