The Bayern Munich striker has been on Manchester United's wishlist for some time and the eagerness to sign the Germany international only increased when Muller's former manager Louis van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford.
So incessant has United's interest been that Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed he had been forced to tell them to stop emailing about the World Cup winner. It appears that Rummenigge's riposte was enjoyed by Muller.
"That was well said. I had to laugh about that. It was good," Muller said in an interview with the Daily Mail, before adding about a possible switch to United: "The club, as Rummenigge showed, denied it straight away, so it’s not up for discussion."
Rummenigge has also stated that he expects Muller to remain at Bayern for the rest of his career, a situation that the 26-year-old confessed was impossible to be certain of.
"I heard what Rummenigge said and it’s nice for me to hear it. There are never any guarantees in football but I do have a four-year contract and when I go on the pitch and hear fans shout my name, that’s something special."
Muller will be in England this week with Bayern Munich playing Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday
