Officers to pay assault victim £100
Two police staff who twisted and grabbed the arms of a man in custody to make him answer questions have been ordered to pay him £100 in compensation.
David Healer screamed in pain as he was assaulted by police custody sergeant Stephen Harvey, 50, and civilian detention officer Michael Mount, 61, after his arrest in County Durham in March last year. The attack was condemned as a form of torture by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
Harvey and Mount were each convicted of two counts of common assault in March.
