The Battlefield: Bad Company sequel made by Electronic Arts was released in Europe on March 4, generating an influx of searches over the past week.
The 2010 Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars) is also a search term on the rise. The Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 7 in Hollywood, USA. People are using Google to check who won the awards and to see who were the best and worst-dressed celebrities.
Tim Burton's film adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland made its public debut in US cinemas and many countries around the world on March 5 and has also entered into the list of most searched for topics on Google at number three.
Japanese message board 2ch is in fourth place while receita federal ("Federal Tax Service" in Portuguese) ranks at number five.
Searches for the National Hockey League (NHL) have also increased this week sending the term "nhl" into sixth place.
The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on March 8 at 9:30 AM GMT are:
1. bad company 2 (+200%)
2. oscar 2010 (+140%)
3. alice in wonderland (+130%)
4. 2ch (+130%)
5. receita federal (+70%) ("Federal Tax Service" in Portuguese)
6. nhl (+40%)
