Microsoft says two of its key online services, SharePoint and OneDrive, are not working properly.

The company confirmed the issue in a tweet, hours after an issue had also affected the company’s Teams, Outlook and Office products.

“We're investigating an issue where users may be unable to access SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. Please look for SP223025 in the admin center", a company account posted on Twitter.

It is unclear if the two faults are related.

“We’ve fixed the service interruption that some customers may have experienced while performing authentication operations”, Microsoft told The Independent about the previous outage.

However, the company did not provide any further information with regards to SharePoint Online or its OneDrive service.

According to the website DownDetector, the issues started occuring at 10:00am, with the majority of users having difficulty logging in to OneDrive.

Users have also reported issues connecting to the server and logging into SharePoint Online, Microsoft’s web-based collaboration tool.

Users are also saying they are unable to access other Microsoft services such as Exchange (for business emails), as well as Skype, voicemail, and other services.

Yesterday, the company said that an issue with authentication requests was the cause of the outage.

“We’ve determined that a specific portion of our infrastructure is not processing authentication requests in a timely manner. We’re pursuing mitigation steps for this issue,” the company said in a status update.

“In parallel, we’re rerouting traffic to alternate systems to provide further relief to the affected users.”

During the pandemic, many users have been relying on online services in order to continue working, with 75 million people logging on to its enterprise communication tool Teams daily.
