Your support makes all the difference.Amid an explosion in TV and movie viewing online, a California startup launched Thursday billing itself as the "complete guide" to Internet television.
The Los Angeles-based Clicker.com boasts a database of more than 450,000 full-length episodes from over 7,000 television shows from over 1,200 networks.
It also lists tens of thousands of movies and 50,000 music videos from 20,000 artists.
Clicker is aimed at helping users navigate through the maze of entertainment content on the Web to find the programs they are looking for.
It describes itself as "one part directory, one part search engine, one part wiki, one part entertainment guide, and one part digital video recorder."
"As massive amounts of programming move online, consumers are entering a world of infinite choices, all on-demand," Clicker said. "Great! Finding the show you want to watch? Painful.
"Clicker catalogs all broadcast programming online, along with TV-quality Web originals, from these silos and delivers them in one seamless, organized experience so you can easily discover what's available to watch," it said.
A free service, Clicker only indexes professional content that has been legally uploaded.
Clicker offers streaming online movies from rental company Netflix for users with a Netflix account and movies from Amazon.com for purchase or rental.
A playlist feature allows users to save TV episodes or movies or subscribe to a particular show.
Clicker's chief executive is Jim Lanzone, the former CEO of search engine Ask.com.
