John Clarke is a journalist who during a lengthy career in Fleet Street has held newsdesk and executive feature positions at the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express, The Times and the i. A lifelong love and interest in wine led him to start writing about wine for The Independent in 2015 and compiling wine round-ups for IndyBest. He’s keen to make people aware of the enormous choice of wines now available to modern consumers – from Japanese koshu and Hungarian furmint to the more established New Zealand sauvignon blanc and South African pinotage –without ignoring the classic still and sparkling wines produced in France. He hopes, that with a little nudge here and there he is able to introduce new and interesting wines to an ever-growing and more informed public. Follow him on twitter at @jhwc10
