Alex Ross is a South West-based journalist who joined The Independent in September, 2023. Alex grew up and started his journalism career in Bristol before moving away to work at some of the country's leading regional titles. He returned to the city to launch and edit Bristol World. Stories on drug trafficking in Colombia and sex slavery in the Midlands led to him winning Best Daily Journalist at the Midlands Media Awards in 2018. He was also shortlisted for Best Daily Journalist at the Regional Press Awards.
