Tom Daley: I am proud to be a gay man and an Olympic champion

Great Britain take on Canada in their third and final group stage fixture on Tuesday, already through to the knockout phase but now trying to secure top spot.

Six points taken so far, courtesy of a two-goal victory over Chile and a late win over hosts Japan, leave Team GB able to rotate the squad for this fixture if head coach Hege Riise wants to, though in theory a first-place finish in the group should yield a better fixture in the quarter-finals. If Great Britain finish top, they will play third place from either Group F or G - China PR or Australia at the start of play on the final round of games - while a second-place finish sees them play F’s runners-up, likely Brazil or Netherlands.

Canada still need a point to guarantee their own progression, though with the two best third-place sides also going through, they look in a strong position to reach the last eight regardless.

Women’s Gymnastics Team Final

ROC are yet to make an error in this team competition, it really has been a superb display from the Russian athletes.

Very little coverage of the GB foursome as we continue to largely watch USA, ROC and China. The Chinese by no means nailed on for the bronze, with European nations Italy, Belgium and GB hot on their heels.

Tokyo 2020: Canada 0-0 Great Britain

Second half

We are back underway in Kashima. Double change at the break for Canada; Fleming on for Rose and Huitema on for Beckie.

No subs for Great Britain, who are 45 minutes from securing first place and a quarter-final game against Australia.

News filtering through now that it was not a physical injury but the mental pressure that caused Simone Biles to withdraw from the team competition.

Really gutting to see the pressure on Biles’ shoulders get to her like that.

Tokyo 2020: GOAL! Canada 1-0 Great Britain

GOAL! 54’ mins

Huge chance for as Roebuck’s clearance goes straight to Leon and she has an open goal to shoot at - but Bright makes a tremendous block, getting her body in the way of the finish to keep the clean sheet intact.

A minute later it’s in anyway - Lawrence crosses from the left, low across the box and Leon is there once more to this time side-foot home into the near top corner and put Canada ahead! That changes the group - Canada are top right now, Team GB second.

Sunisa Lee with another sensational routine for the USA! She is making up for Biles’ withdrawal with some near-perfect displays.

Performing on the balance beam, the American receives a huge 14.1 and USA have renewed hope of gold.

Oooo now it’s interesting! After three rotations for the ROC they lead the way after a 14.3 on the balance beam, a breathtaking score.

Do USA have the answers?

In a tense opener, Walkden grasped the lead, and then with 45 seconds left, she pulled four clear.

SUPER SUB! Coming in for Simone Biles, Jordan Childs has just produced a sensational routine on the balance beam! Her score is 13.433.

With just the floor left to go, Russia lead by around 0.8 of a point. It’s so close, but the Americans are notoriously good in the final discipline.

Italy are third, Japan fourth and Great Britain fifth.
