Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea booked their passage to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on penalties after Mykhailo Mudryk’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
Mudryk slotted home after a mistake from Kieran Trippier just as Eddie Howe’s side looked to have done enough to ease past the hosts, who struggled to create for much of the game.
Earlier, Callum Wilson had given the visitors a first-half lead on the counter-attack. But as the game went to spot-kicks, Trippier again was culpable, firing wide from 12 yards before Matt Ritchie saw the critical kick saved by goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic to see Chelsea through.

The equaliser! And it’s a defensive howler! It’s a nothing ball into the box from the right by Gusto, one bounce and Kieran Trippier has time but it’s a weak header to no one, Mykhailo Mudryk nips round him and finishes past Dubravka. Out of nowhere!
A defensive error apiece now and it looks like we’re heading to penalties.

90 mins: Penalty appeal! Gallagher skips past a couple of defenders and although he loses it, Livramento stumbles and Gallagher gets it back. He drives into the box from the right and goes down under a challenge by Livramento but the referee is having none of it. Looks like simulation from Gallagher, in truth.

Mudryk curls a cross in from the right towards the back post where Livramento gets his head to the ball but directs it across his own goal and mercifully just wide. That could easily have gone in or been tapped in by a Chelsea player but just a corner, which they manage to defend.

86 mins: Chelsea win a free-kick in their own half and Callum Wilson plays nuisance as he stands in the way, stopping the quick free-kick. Caicedo pushes him out of the way and Wilson theatrically falls to the floor. Yellow card for Wilson.
