Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane LIVE: Stream, latest updates and UFC 285 results
Re-live updates from the main event, plus Valentina Shevchenko vs Alexa Grasso and more
Jon Jones submitted Ciryl Gane in the first round to win the vacant heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 285.
Jones had not fought in three years, but the former two-time light-heavyweight champion showed very few signs of ring rust, as he took down Gane early and forced the Frenchman to tap out to a guillotine choke.
Jones, 35, is seen by many as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, though the American’s career has also been marred by numerous failed drug tests and run-ins with the law. He once again proved his talents here, however, requiring just two minutes to beat former interim champion Gane, 32, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In the co-main event, Alexa Grasso stunned Valentina Shevchenko with a fourth-round submission to win the women’s flyweight belt and hand her opponent a first loss in six years. With that result, Grasso became the first female Mexican champion in UFC history. She also became the third active Mexican champion, with Brandon Moreno currently holding the men’s flyweight belt and Yair Rodriguez serving as interim men’s featherweight champion.
Re-live updates and results from the UFC 285 main card and prelims, below. The card aired live on BT Sport in the UK, with the broadcaster’s app and website also streaming the fights. In the US, ESPN+ streamed the action live, as did the UFC’s Fight Pass.

Nickal vs Pickett – Round 1
Nickal takes down Pickett early, tries for a guillotine but can’t get it, then transitions to a rear naked choke...
Again he can’t quite lock it in, so he attempts an arm-triangle... Pickett tries to hang in there...
UFC 285 LIVE
Pickett is out first, looking nice and relaxed for this middleweight bout.
Now here comes Nickal, one of the best wrestlers in the US.
UFC 285 LIVE
The main card begins with wrestling specialist Bo Nickal making his full UFC debut, after he previously competed on Dana White’s Contender Series.
The American is just 3-0 as a pro but is already highly touted as a potential future champion, with all of his fights having ended in the first round.
His two amateur fights went the same way, too. In fact, his total ring time is 5:25 across his pro and amateur bouts.
Nickal, 27, who has secured two knockouts and three submissions since his amateur debut, faces Jamie Pickett here.

Garbrandt vs Jones – Round 3
Still Jones comes forward. Garbrandt circles away continuously.
More boos from the crowd. Garbrandt rolls under an overhand from Jones, but the next one connects and stings the former champion!
Now Jones gets a takedown. He ends the round on top, and he’ll likely take this frame, but it won’t be enough for the win.

Garbrandt vs Jones – Round 3
Jones’ corner tells him that he shouldn’t have tried for the takedown. His coach says Jones is down two rounds and needs a finish. Not wrong.
Garbrant ducks under a head kick. Jones comes forward, but the crowd boos due to a lack of output from both fighters.
Jones has landed just eight strikes so far, which is pretty remarkable.
