2018 Russia World Cup in numbers

Colombia are likely to have star man James Rodriguez back from injury as they look to quickly make up for their 2-1 defeat against Japan. Carlos Sanchez received an early red card for handball which led to Shinji Kagawa’s early goal from the spot. Colombia clawed the game back but ultimately lacked the creativity and composure that Rodriguez offers them in the final third.

Centre-back Kamil Glik has returned to full training can could start for Poland after they failed to put on a good display against Senegal in their 2-1 defeat.

This will be the first ever competitive match between the two sides and a win for either team will leave their opponents scrambling on zero points. Defeat for both teams is not an option. Whatever the result, it will be a fascinating and open game.

What time is it?

Poland vs Colombia kicks off at 19:00 at the Kazan Arena

Where can I watch it?

ITV will be showing live coverage on ITV 1 and online on the ITV Hub

Odds

  • Poland: 5/2
  • Colombia: 5/4
  • Draw: 12/5

Prediction

2-2. Colombia only know one way to play, and with Rodriguez back in the side they should be able to break through Poland’s defence. That said, Colombia will be exposed at the back and Robert Lewandowski will be itching to open his World Cup account.

For those of you joining us from Japan 2-2 Senegal, you'll know this group remains wide open. Expect plenty more attacking football in this one, as both Poland and Columbia lost their opening game, and really need a win here

Poland and Columbia have made a combined seven changes for this one, and they are as follows.

For Poland: Jan Bednarek, Bartosz Bereszynski and Dawid Kownacki are IN. Thiago Cionek, Jakub Blaszczkowski and Arkadiusz Milik drop to the bench.

For Columbia: Yerry MinaWilmar Barrious, James Rodriguez and Abel Aguilar IN. Oscar Murillo, Jefferson Lerma, Carlos Sanchez and Jose Izquierdo OUT

James Rodriguez made plenty of headlines, and was one of the breakout stars from Brazil four years ago. He returns to the starting XI here, and could be key as an attacking outlet as Columbia search for their first win of this World Cup.

He earned his move to Real Madrid on the back of Brazil, but has been shipped out to Bayern Munich on loan in the most recent season. He will have a point to prove on the big stage once again.

Poland were surprisingly poor against Senegal and will need to be a lot better here if they hope to progress to the round of 16.

But they do have players within their ranks to turn things around, with an attack fronted by Robert Lewandowski. Give him a hint of a goal, and a second later you'll be picking the ball out of the net. But when he's been marked well, he can really struggle and that will be a key area for Columbia to focus on, despite all of their own attacking talents.

A reminder that if either of these sides lose this game, they're out of the World Cup, which would be a big shock for their respective countries. Expect a cagey start, but if a goal goes in, the other team will be forced to throw absolutely everything forward.

The anthems are underway...expect similarly hot conditions to those that England faced earlier today, meaning an early goal could take even more importance. Plenty of Colombians in attendance with their yellow shirts in great waves across the Kazan Arena
