Croatia come into the knockout stage of the World Cup undefeated and knowing that their half of the draw has opened up massively by Spain's shock elimination. Their impressive showing in the group stage saw them easily pick apart Argentina while they enjoyed commanding wins over Nigeria and Iceland.
Impressive defensive showings from the side meant that they only conceded one goal during the group stage of the competition, which came against Iceland in the form of a penalty.
Denmark have been less impressive, getting through to the knockout stage with just two goals under their belt. Their mediocre showing against Australia mean that they had to perform against France or they ran the risk of not qualifying. They were helped out massively by Peru’s surprise win over Australia that meant that their 0-0 draw against France was enough for them to take second in Group C.

Prediction
Denmark face an almighty challenge in getting past Croatia. Zlatko Dalić’s side have been one of the tournament’s more consistent teams and are likely to take it up a notch in the knockout stages. It’s hard to see this game ending in anything but a Croatia win.
4 mins: GOAL! Croatia 1-1 Denmark (Mario Mandzukic)
Wow. Mandzukic hits a volley with perfect technique down into the pitch and into the net, and Croatia have an equaliser! A combination of poor Denmark defending and bad luck, after the ball ricocheted through to Mandzukic
8 mins: Crazy start to this one, that will give both sides confidence after defensive calmness seems to be lacking for Croatia and Denmark
11 mins: Croatia have a free kick on the very edge of the penalty area. A chance for Ivan Perisic or Rakitic?
It was Perisic, but it's deflected away and out for a corner
16 mins: Since the two early goals, Croatia look particularly dangerous down their right flank as goalscorer Mathias Jorgensen looks vulnerable in defence
20 mins: Mandzukic goes down in the box, under little contact. We go to VAR for a review, and play can continue
23 mins: Denmark break forward and Eriksen's shot is deflected out for a corner
27 mins: Denmark are growing back into this one, after Croatian dominance following their goal. Martin Braithwaite has a chance one-one-one with Subasic, who deals with it well.
29 mins: Croatia break forward, through Rakitic, and Ivan Perisic follows up after Schmeichel fumbles but can only blast his effort over the bar
32 mins: Denmark have a corner, which is initially cleared, before Eriksen gets another cross in on the right that Subasic can collect. Plenty of chances for both sides in half an hour that's flown by.
37 mins: Croatia look vulnerable from set pieces, but the more dangerous in open play, with the Denmark defence looking shaky with several runs from midfield along with Mandzukic
