Arsenal have been dumped out of the Carabao Cup after suffering a surprise 3-1 away defeat against West Ham.

West Ham were winless against Arsenal since January 2019 but found themselves ahead after 16 minutes when Ben White headed into his own net from a corner.

Arsenal spurned chances through Eddie Nketiah and Kai Havertz in the first half and were made to pay after the break when Mohammed Kudus extended the lead after a break with a wonderful first touch and finish.

Declan Rice was greeted with boos as he came on for Arsenal but the former West Ham captain could do nothing to prevent Jarrod Bowen from finding a third, with Martin Odegaard's late goal of little consolation as his side suffered an early exit from the cup for the second season running.

West Ham 1-0 Arsenal

36 mins: Nelson has been prominent in these early stages and creates another shooting opportunity as he dribbles into the box. His effort, though, is blocked by one of a sea of West Ham bodies inside the area.

GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Arsenal (White own goal, 16 mins)

A gift from West Ham and the home side lead! Bowen’s delivery has plenty of pace on it and White gets his positioning all wrong and heads into his own net at the near post.

West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

9 mins: SAVE! Alvarez gives away a cheap free-kick on the left side of the West Ham defence and Nelson’s enticing delivery is met by a deft flick-on from Havertz but Fabianksi is equal to it and tips it over the bar superbly.

West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

5 mins: But a good chance now for West Ham on the break after Paqueta nicked the ball on the halfway line. The Brazilian surges forward but gets his through ball to Bowen all wrong as it drifts out harmlessly for a goal kick.

West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

4 mins: A positive start from the away side as they look to impose themselves on the ball in these opening stages. West Ham’s forward line looks particularly fluid with Bowen and Kudus occupying central positions early on.
