Follow all the latest Liverpool transfer news and updates before the deadline
Liverpool’s transfer business seemed to be done following the acquisition of Diogo Jota from Wolves, but could there be one last twist in the tale?
Jota’s arrival followed the marquee signing of midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos.
But with no replacement signed for departing centre-back Dejan Lovren and the Reds short in that department, will they look to reinforce? Follow all the latest news, rumours and deals below.
BLADES RUNNING OUT OF TIME FOR BREWSTER MOVE
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says the club are running out of time to sign Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster.
Brewster has been linked with a move to The Blades for a number of weeks, but talks have stalled.
Liverpool would like a permanent deal, whereas the Yorkshire side only want to take Brewster on loan for the season.
Speaking in the aftermath of his side’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds yesterday, Wilder said:
“I have been focusing on the team but time is running out and we all understand that.”
SOUNESS QUESTIONS LIVERPOOL SIGNING
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has questioned the club’s signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves.
Jota was signed for £45m last week, and Souness wonders about his mentality.
Souness, writing in his column in The Times, said:
WINDOW SHUT FOR FURTHER SIGNINGS
Liverpool won’t make any further signings during the remainder of the transfer window, states the Liverpool Echo.
The Premier League champions have added Thiago Alcantara, Konstantinos Tsimikas and Diogo Jota to their squad during the window.
However the Liverpool Echo believes that boss Jurgen Klopp is happy with his squad, and will only sign further players due to one of his players sustaining a serious injury.
The Reds will reportedly work on moving players on in the final week of the window.
KLOPP ON DEFENSIVE REINFORCEMENTS
Jurgen Klopp has had his say on whether or not Liverpool will look to take the pressure off of his defence, with a lack of depth at centre-back a potential issue as the season progresses.
