Premier League weekend round-up, November 24-25

A week after getting sent off for diving, James Maddison showed another side of his game by scoring a brilliant goal to help Leicester beat Watford 2-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The playmaker brought down a long ball forward, juggled the ball past his marker, before sending a low volley into the bottom corner from just inside the area in the 23rd minute.

Jamie Vardy's 12th-minute penalty, after the striker himself was brought down by goalkeeper Ben Foster, put the Foxes in control and Watford was well beaten by the time Etienne Capoue was sent off in the 90th.

Leicester leapfrogged its opponent in the standings to move to seventh place.

Player to watch…

Marc Albrighton: The 29-year-old put in an industrious display against Brighton last weekend. He was excellent in helping out defensively and grew into the game in the second half as Leicester upped their tempo. His set pieces looked like Leicester’s best chance of claiming all three points at the Amex Stadium, and he also fired in a penalty in the shootout after coming on as a substitute against Southampton three days later. There's every reason to expect he will be full of confidence.

Good afternoon and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of today's Premier League action, starting with five games at 3pm.

League leaders Manchester City are in action as they host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, with the chance to increase the gap at the top to five points as Liverpool do not play until Sunday.

Newcastle United are looking to continue their recent up-turn in form as they face West Ham United, who have fallen behind the Magpies on goal difference, while Crystal Palace are looking to put some breathing space between them and the relegation zone as they host fellow-strugglers Burnley at Selhurst Park.

The final 3pm kick-off sees Leicester City take on Watford at the King Power Stadium as both teams look to keep pace with sixth-place Everton in the hunt for European football.

The one evening kick-off today sees Manchester United and Southampton meet at St Mary's, with Jose Mourinho's side looking to close the gap to the top five to keep their faint top-four hopes alive.

Follow all the latest news and goals as they go in from 2pm as we bring you the team news.

Man City face a Bournemouth side who are coming off the back of three straight defeats, will they extend their lead at the top of the table to five points or can Bournemouth stop the rut and cause an upset?

Watford boss Javi Gracia wants his side to rediscover the form they had earlier in the season and he's targeted Leicester as the first step towards that goal.

Huddersfield vs Brighton

Huddersfield come into the match with a three-game unbeaten run. They jumped from the bottom to 16th and could move four points clear of the relegation zone with victory today.

They are still in a vulnerable position though and will need to be at their best - especially as in-form Glenn Murray will be waiting for his opportunity on the Brighton bench.

Brighton though are without a win in three games but victory could push them up into 10th place should Leicester lose to Watford at home today.

Man City vs Bournemouth

Raheem Sterling will be the main man for Man City today. He has been involved in nine goals in five Premier League appearances against Bournemouth scoring seven and assisting two, averaging a goal or assist every 48 minutes.
