Leaders Juventus extended their Serie A unbeaten run to 16 games as Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty secured a hard-earned 1-0 win at rivals Torino.

The Bianconeri showed no hangover from their surprise midweek Champions League loss away to Swiss club Young Boys, rallying to extend their lead over Napoli, who play on Sunday, to 11 points.

Ronaldo made the breakthrough from the spot during the second half after Torino substitute goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo had tripped Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian striker saw a goal disallowed for offside after a Video Assistant Review, but Massimiliano Allegri's men went on to close out a hard-earned three points.

Torino are huffing and puffing, looking to find a way back into this game. But they appear to have run out of ideas. Juventus, when they go a goal up, are notoriously difficult to break down.

Juventus are doing everything they can to slow the game down, to stop any momentum building for Torino. They're experts at it. Since they went in front, there haven't been any chances of note for the home side.

Baselli curls in a free kick but De Sciglio goes down in the box and wins Juventus a free kick. The visitors look relatively untroubled. Another clean sheet, and the continuation of their long unbeaten run, looks increasingly likely.

Chance for Ronaldo to seal the win. Dybala picks him out in space, he delays his shot and eventually hits it straight at Nkoulou. The better option might have been to square to Dybala.

Torino look bereft of ideas and energy. They've put everything into this, but time is quickly running out, and Juventus are keeping the ball in their half.

Full time: Juventus hold on. They've done what they do best: a hard fought away win in difficult conditions. Ronaldo's penalty sends them 11 points clear at the top and gives them the bragging rights over their city rivals.

It's Ronaldo, fittingly, who scores a record-setting goal for Juventus in Serie A.
