Donald Trump has made an unscheduled campaign stop in Maine, flying in from neighbouring New Hampshire to greet his supporters at an apple orchard.
Maine is a surprising stop for the president, as his rival Joe Biden is leading in the state by a 14 point margin, suggesting the president has little hope of swinging it.
He does love a crowd, though, and earlier on Sunday arrived to a cheering mass of “thousands” in New Hampshire.
Speaking about the impending election, which is just nine days away, Mr Trump said it was “time to end the fight” with Mr Biden and that “our country will never be a socialist one”.
In his hometown of New York pro-Trump and anti-Trump factions scuffled, with Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor and now Mr Trump lawyer, caught in the midst as his car drove through the melee.
Democrats planning 30-hour ‘digital filibuster’ to try to stop Amy Coney Barrett being confirmed
Democrats in the Senate are planning to begin a 30-hour “digital filibuster” on Sunday, to protest the nomination to the Supreme Court of Amy Coney Barrett.
The Senate will vote on Sunday to send the federal judge's nomination to a full vote, which will be held on Monday.
With little remaining hope of blocking her confirmation to the court, and her replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Democrats have announced a symbolic show of defiance.
Unlike an actual filibuster, which slows proceedings and can make an unpopular bill run out of time and therefore be blocked, the digital filibuster will not affect the outcome.
It will serve instead as a reminder of the strong sentiment against her confirmation.
Democrats feel that the appointment should not be made so close to the election, during a campaign, and have tried everything possible to prevent her confirmation – from boycotting sessions in the Senate to seeking to tie their votes to a coronavirus relief bill.
Her appointment is a triumph for Mitch McConnell, who has made appointing conservative judges his number one priority.
It also is hoped by Republicans to give an electoral boost to Donald Trump, with only days until the country goes to the polls.

AOC backs Biden but takes aim at his fracking policy: ‘It will be a privilege to lobby him’
New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reaffirmed her support for Joe Biden on Sunday despite lingering policy differences on several key issues such as fracking to produce natural gas wells.
“It will be a privilege to lobby him,” the freshman Democratic congresswoman said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, indicating that while Mr Biden is not the perfect candidate for progressives, the 78-year-old former vice president has signaled a willingness to listen to young liberal activists.
“They want to vote for who they are going to lobby,” Ms Ocasio-Cortez said of young voters.
“There is no question that Joe Biden is a much better person in that position to be receptive and actually listen to the voices of advocates than Donald Trump,” the popular politician added.
During the Democratic primaries, Mr Biden initially supported a ban on fracking, before later softening his stance. He now supports a plan to stop issuing new permits for natural gas companies to frack on federal lands. But current operations can carry on.

Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker, Julian Castro and Amy Klobuchar have released a video in which they break down the latest debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
Mr Biden shared the video on his Twitter profile, saying that after “months of competing against one another in the primary” his colleagues know him pretty well. He went on to encourage his followers to watch the video.
One notable moment in the video is when each of the politicians reacts to Mr Trump announcing that he is now “immune” to coronavirus.
Upon Mr Trump saying no one could be sure if his immunity would last “four months or a lifetime”, Cory Booker, a senator from New Jersey, jokingly says to the camera: “Never drank alcohol in my life. I might need it after this.”
Julian Castro even went as far as calling the president an “empty salesman”.
Fox host slams senator Lindsey Graham days before election
Fox Business host Lou Dobbs went after South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham in a scathing attack, asking why anyone would vote for the Republican lawmaker while he battled to keep his seat in a close election race.
Mr Dobbs’ criticism against the senator was sparked because the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman would not subpoena “the left-wing heads of the censorships Twitter and Facebook until after the election”.
“I don’t know why anyone in the great state of South Carolina would ever vote for Lindsey Graham. It’s just outrageous,” Mr Dobbs said on Friday. “This is the guy who keeps saying: ‘Stay tuned.’ He said he would get to the bottom of Obamagate with the Judiciary Committee, which has been a year and a half, actually longer, of absolute inert response to these pressing issues of our day.”
He went on to state that Mr Graham has “betrayed” Donald Trump, despite the senator becoming one of the most vocal supporters for the president in recent years.

Donald Trump arrived to a cheering crowd of ‘thousands’ in New Hampshire on Sunday, immediately commenting on the ‘thousands and thousands’ of people anyone watching from home wouldn’t be able to see.
Speaking about the impending election, which is just nine days away, Mr Trump said it was “time to end the fight” with Joe Biden and that “our country will never be a socialist one”.
The president went on to comment on the apparently poor turnout Mr Biden sees at his events. Mr Trump said Mr Biden is lucky to get “seven people” at campaign events - he also commented on the low turnout at Barack Obama’s recent event, saying the former president had attracted less than 50 people.
Official figures for Mr Obama’s speech, which took place in Philadelphia, recorded 200 people being there.
Trump says US is ‘rounding the turn’ with coronavirus as cases soar
At a campaign event in New Hampshire, Donald Trump said the US is “rounding the turn” with Covid-19, before adding: “It’s going to be over.”
The president said that “even without a vaccine”, the country was managing to contain and stem the virus.
The claims come after it was reported yesterday that the US had recorded more than 83,000 coronavirus cases two days in a row.
He went on to talk about the treatment he’d received for coronavirus some weeks ago, saying he had a doctor “for every part of his body”.
Mr Trump has been previously criticised for insinuating that his gold-standard healthcare, and subsequent recovery from the virus, was proof anyone could recover from Covid-19.

Mr Trump finally corrected himself.
“When I say Nobel Prize I mean nomination, I don’t know.”

“We understand the disease and we are going to take care of our elderly, we are going to be careful and vigilant but we are not locking down,” said Mr Trump.
