Kill Bill star endorses Zendaya to play her daughter in potential third movie

Tarantino previously hinted that a third instalment could see Vernita Green's daughter avenge her mother's murder

Kill Bill star Vivica A Fox revealed she wants Zendaya to play her daughter in a potential third instalment of the beloved franchise.

When asked about potential recasting during an interview with NME, Fox – who played Vernita Green in Kill Bill: Vol 1 and 2 – said, “So I went, Zendaya! How hot would that be? And that would probably green light this project.”

On why Zendaya is her actor of choice, Fox said, “Because her and Uma [Thurman] are both very tall and it would just be kick-butt, and I love her.” Fox continued: “Hopefully now we can put that out, like ‘Tarantino cast Zendaya!’ And spark his interest to put it on the fast track. Wouldn’t it be amazing?’”

Tarantino himself has previously hinted that a third instalment could see a grown-up version of Green’s daughter take on Uma Thurman’s character, The Bride, to avenge her mother’s death.

The 2003 film sets up the foundations for such a storyline. After murdering Green, The Bride tells her young daughter: “It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that I’m sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it coming. When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I’ll be waiting.”

Fox initially put her vote in for Ambrosia Kelley to reprise her role as Green’s daughter but when prompted for a more established actor, endorsed The Greatest Showman actor instead.

Speculation about another instalment of the Tarantino classic has been reignited. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in May, Fox confirmed that Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman are discussing the long-awaited third movie.

Fans have also called on Tarantino to finally make the third film after recognising that now, 17 years after the first movie, Green’s daughter would be ready to take on The Bride.

Tarantino has previously claimed that he intends to retire after directing a total of 10 films. Following last year’s Oscar-nominated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the director’s next film would then complete his career.
