Wales vs Australia betting tips:

Fiji’s win against Australia has opened up Pool C and given Wales the opportunity to seal their progression into the quarter-finals with a game to spare.

With a banana skin-like opposition in Georgia still to come, they’d love to get the job done here and the latest Rugby World Cup odds predict Wales to win.

Only pre-match single bets placed on the specified First Tryscorer market in selected games in the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Fulfilled in real cash and credited with settlement of the First Tryscorer scorer market. Full T&Cs Apply.

Australia’s World Cup is far from over, but with Fiji likely to collect wins against Portugal and Georgia to finish with three, allowing Wales to get their third win here means the Wallabies are potentially out of contention a fortnight early.

These nations have been shuffling above and underneath one another in the IRB world rankings in recent months and UK bookmakers can also barely separate the two teams in their markets.

Eddie Jones moved left-field pick Ben Donaldson from full-back to fly half after losing patience with young prodigy Carter Gordon, bringing incumbent number 15 Andrew Kellaway back into the side to strengthen the back of the formation but potentially at a great risk.

Ahead of what looks to be an exciting 2023 Rugby World Cup game, we’ve picked out our best three plays in what promises to be the defining match of Pool C.

Wales vs Australia betting: Expect a tight match

Last weekend was another one that got away from the Wallabies. Fiji held a narrow half-time lead for a second consecutive World Cup meeting with Australia and this time they grew it further rather than folding under pressure.

The Wallabies have now seen eight of their last 12 tests decided by a margin of under 7.5 points and have been on the losing end of six of them – against the likes of Ireland, France, Italy, Argentina and New Zealand as well as Fiji.

A 39-34 triumph in Cardiff late last year was one of the exceptions, which puts enough doubt in our mind about which way to lean here.

Left-field selections from Eddie Jones can often turn out to be genius moves and would be a brave move to write off the new combinations.

Tip: Either team by less than 7 points - 11/8 at BetVictor

Don’t expect a high-scoring affair

Rugby betting sites have set the mark for this game at a modest 46.5 points, but it’s one that only about 40 per cent of games between these sides in the 21st century have cleared.

More recently, Wales’ last five victories against Tier One nations all finished well under the total points handicap, courtesy of them scoring fewer than 30 points and conceding less than 20 on each occasion.

Last week against Portugal was another struggle, albeit one with almost a completely different side to the one that defeated Fiji.

Both nations are averaging between 19-20 points per game in 2023, which is why we’re backing the tally to go under 46.5.

Wales vs Australia bets: Try scorer odds to consider

Welsh captain Jac Morgan has already taken the international world by storm with a complete skill set that few back rowers can boast.

The number seven set up Louis Rees-Zammit with a pinpoint cross-field kick against Fiji, assisting Rees-Zammit again to produce their opening try against Portugal, before crossing over the line himself from a maul.

Stake not returned. T&Cs Apply.

Morgan also scored doubles against Australia and Georgia in last year’s Autumn Nations Cup and continues to blossom as an international player.

In the absence of co-captain Dewi Lake, teammates will be looking to him to once again show the way in a potentially transformative match for their country.

Tip: Jac Morgan to score a try – 5/1 with BetUK
