Ireland vs New Zealand betting tips:

Ireland and New Zealand are two of the titans in the world of rugby and with both teams renowned for their free-flowing style of play, this quarter-final promises to be a blockbuster.

The latest Rugby World Cup odds suggest there is little between them, but with Ireland on a winning streak of 17 Test games and within sight of a new world record for consecutive victories against Tier 1 opposition, we’re backing the men in green to come out of this with their run safely intact.

New Zealand and England are joint-record holders in that department having won 18 consecutive games apiece against Tier 1 teams in the past, and it was Ireland who brought both of those winning streaks to an end.

Can Ireland maintain their form?

An Ireland win over the All Blacks will see them face Wales or Argentina in the semi-finals and they will be clear favourites to beat either side for a place in the final.

Head coach Andy Farrell has made no changes to an Irish team that brushed Scotland aside in the final game in Pool B last week and they are definitely the team with the most momentum.

They left some gaps and let Scotland in for a couple of tries in the second half, which they will need to address against a marauding New Zealand team, but Ireland were on another level in the first half.

Some intricate passing play saw them run riot with four tries in the first period. Another couple of tries in the second half saw them hold a near-invincible 36-0 lead.

It was a magical performance and Ireland will have few fears against a New Zealand team that failed to trouble France in the opening game.

Ireland to advance to first World Cup semi-final?

Betting sites favour Ireland to get the job done in normal time, with 8/11 the going rate, while New Zealand can currently be backed at a best price of 11/8 with Betway

The fanatical rugby-loving Irish fans have been having a whale of a time throughout the competition and they will outnumber the New Zealand contingent at the Stade de France, which can make a significant difference in these games.

The noise will be deafening and could lift Ireland throughout the match.

Ireland were arguably in a far tougher group than New Zealand but the All Blacks could do no more other than hammer far inferior opposition in Uruguay, Italy and Namibia and they are a try-scoring machine when they find the openings.

It will be a physical battle between two heavyweights, but Ireland’s outstanding recent form stands them in good stead and we’re backing them to pass this test with flying colours.

Ireland odds to win the Rugby World Cup

Since we're predicting a win for Ireland, it makes sense to side with them in the outright winner market too, where they are 3/1 with SpreadEx.

A win on Saturday will see them face Wales or Argentina in the semi-finals and they would be odds-on to beat either of them to book a place in the final.

If they reach the final, they are unlikely to be any bigger than around evens to win it no matter who they face, which will afford a stake-covering wager on the team in opposition come the final on 28 October.

Ireland giving up 1.5 points makes plenty of appeal

The handicap market is always of interest and the bookmakers are rarely far away with their assessment of this particular market.

However, the 5/6 offered by BetVictor with Ireland minus 1.5 points has caught our eye.

We already believe that Ireland are the team to beat and they could be capable of overhauling the handicap.

During their winning streak, South Africa was the nearest any team has got to Ireland, who kept the margin down to three points in June of last year.

If Ireland get off to a flying start as they did against Scotland they could soon have a healthy lead and the All Blacks would be up against it to get the margin down to less than two points.

Tip: Ireland minus 1.5 points - 5/6 with BetVictor
