Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos predictions:
- Dalton Kincaid to score touchdown any time – 2/1 BetVictor
- Josh Allen to throw over 0.5 interceptions – 20/27 bet365
- Denver Broncos +6.5 handicap – 1/1 BetMGM
The Buffalo Bills (5-4) are in a fight to prove that they remain one of the top contenders for the Super Bowl ahead of their clash with the Denver Broncos (3-5) in the early hours of Tuesday (1.15am, Sky Sports NFL).
Sean McDermott’s side have lost two of their last three games, including a defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals last time out.
All has not been well at Buffalo this season, suffering deficiencies on both sides of the ball which has allowed the Miami Dolphins to surge past them to take top spot in the AFC East.
Josh Allen and company have not been at their best and are in dire need of a spark against the Broncos, who come into the game fresh off a stunning win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
After winning only one of their opening six games, the Broncos have reeled off back-to-back victories over the Packers and Chiefs.
Denver are starting to click under Sean Payton following a difficult start but will be tested by a Bills’ offence that can tear apart any defence on their day.
Bookmakers have installed the Bills as favourites for the contest, and although they have had their issues, McDermott’s men are strong at home.
We’ll look at other markets for our three betting predictions.
Kincaid to step up
Although the Bills have not been firing on all cylinders on offence, they still are ranked seventh in the NFL for both points scored and yards per game.
Allen has been battling a shoulder injury throughout the season and it certainly appears to have affected his play on the field. The unit outside of his connection with Stefon Diggs has been out of rhythm.
Gabe Davis has failed to offer a complement alongside Diggs, while Dawson Knox has been missing with a fractured wrist. The Bills used a first-round pick in the 2023 Draft to select Dalton Kincaid.
Although he is billed as a tight end, Buffalo have used him more as a slot receiver. Kincaid had a difficult start to his NFL career, but since the bye week, he has become an active part of the passing game.
He notched 10 receptions for 81 yards last time out against the Bengals and scored his first touchdown the week prior against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Buffalo need more touchdowns out of him with Knox sidelined and Davis out of form to support Diggs. With our first NFL prediction, we’re backing Kincaid to score a touchdown any time at odds of 2/1 on BetVictor.
Tip: Dalton Kincaid to score touchdown any time – 2/1 BetVictor
Will Allen’s streak continue?
Turnovers have always been an issue with Allen. It plagued the early stages of his career when he was regularly guilty of committing interceptions and fumbles. In six NFL seasons, he has thrown 69 interceptions and lost 22 fumbles.
He’s on pace to throw the most interceptions of his career this season, totalling nine in nine games. Perhaps more worryingly for McDermott and offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, he has thrown at least one interception in his last five games.
It is the risk with Allen, he is a playmaker and can produce excellence with his off-script throws, but at the same time there is always the chance that the ball ends up in opposition hands.
The Broncos are middle of the park when it comes to turnovers, notching seven interceptions and five fumble recoveries. But, they do have excellent players in the secondary, notably standouts Justin Simmons and Patrick Surtain.
Simmons has picked off Patrick Mahomes twice this term, while Surtain’s coverage ability could cause issues with Allen’s throws to Diggs.
We’re backing Allen to throw at least one interception with our second NFL prediction at odds of 20/27 with bet365.
Tip: Josh Allen to throw over 0.5 interceptions – 20/27 bet365
Can the Broncos cover?
Denver impressed with their performance against the Chiefs last time out, suffocating Kansas City’s offence in the second half. Mahomes and his teammates mustered only nine points – a season-low for Andy Reid’s men.
This is the same defence that allowed the Miami Dolphins to put up a record-breaking score of 70 points in the opening month of the campaign. Payton and his team have come a long way since then and are playing, at the least, competitive football.
Denver are perhaps not ready to beat Buffalo on the road, but they should play a close game. The Bills’ victories of late have been by narrow margins, edging past a poor Giants side by five points and the Buccaneers by six points.
So, we’re backing Broncos +6.5 on the handicap at 1/1 with BetMGM. This means a bet with new betting sites will be successful if Denver lose by fewer than seven points or win the game.
