Tottenham v Fulham betting tips:
- Tottenham to win to nil – 2/1 with Parimatch
- Under 2.5 goals – 13/8 with William Hill
- Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to be shown a card – 12/5 with bet365
Tottenham have made a fantastic start to the new Premier League season and are expected to maintain their early momentum when hosting Fulham on Monday night.
What was forecast to be a transitional season for Spurs following the departure of all-time leading scorer Harry Kane has been anything but with the north London side aiming to go back to the top of the table with a win.
Having been as big as 66/1 to win the title on football betting sites in mid-August, Tottenham’s odds have shrunk to 9/1 with William Hill to win the league for the first time in 63 years.
If Spurs are to be crowned champions, home games against Fulham are must-win fixtures.
The Cottagers have made a steady start to the season, taking 11 points from eight games, but issues in attack and a troubling record in London derbies combine to make them unappealing outsiders for Monday’s game.
Spurs can shut out struggling Fulham
Ange Postecoglou has hit the ground running as Tottenham boss and picked up his second consecutive Premier League Manager of the Month award in September having steered Spurs to six wins and two draws from eight games.
The Australian could set a new Premier League managerial record for most points gained in the first nine games with a win on Monday having successfully found a way to mitigate the impact of Kane’s departure on the team.
Son Heung-min has tried filling Kane’s goalscoring boots, netting six times this season, while summer signing James Maddison has proven an inspired addition.
No one has registered more assists in the top flight than Maddison (five) and the midfielder was on hand to set up Micky van de Ven for the winner at Luton before the international break.
10-man Tottenham came away from Kenilworth Road with a 1-0 win as they registered a third clean sheet of the campaign and are 15/8 to record another win to nil with Parimatch against Fulham.
The Cottagers also lost their main source of goals, Aleksandar Mitrovic, this summer but have had far less success finding his replacement.
Mitrovic’s successor Raul Jimenez has yet to find the back of the net for a Fulham side that’s scored just four league goals from open play and has the fifth-lowest expected goals per game in the division.
History doesn’t favour Fulham in this fixture either having lost 13 of the previous 15 Premier League meetings with Spurs, who we're backing to record a clean sheet and routine win.
Tip 1: Tottenham to win to nil – 15/8 with Parimatch
Unders an interesting option
UK bookmakers are expecting a relatively high-scoring game with over 2.5 goals odds-on.
It’s easy to understand why with Tottenham having the highest xG in the division and averaging more shots on goal than anyone else in a season when Premier League games are producing over three goals per match on average.
But, with the exception of a 5-1 thrashing by Manchester City, Fulham have looked solid with defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha continuing to do an excellent job of screening the back four.
They’ve kept clean sheets away to Everton and Crystal Palace already this season and may be able to frustrate Tottenham.
Sheffield United shut out Spurs for 98 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before caving in, while the nine-men of Liverpool held off the hosts until their own late demise.
Under 2.5 goals has landed in four of the last five meetings between these two and appeals at 13/8 with William Hill.
Hojbjerg in hot water
Tottenham will be without Yves Bissouma on Monday after he was sent off at Luton and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the likely candidate to replace him in midfield.
All seven of the Dane’s league appearances this season have been from the bench and yet he’s still managed to collect two yellow cards, including being booked within 25 minutes of coming on against Luton.
With fellow card candidate Cristian Romero also unavailable through injury, Hojbjerg looks the most likely Tottenham player to end up in Anthony Taylor’s notebook.
Taylor is showing over five cards per game on average this season, enhancing the appeal of Hojbjerg to be carded at 12/5 with bet365.
Tip 3: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to be shown a card – 12/5 with bet365
