Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town betting tips:
- Ipswich to win and both teams to score – 2/1 BetVictor
- Nathan Broadhead to score any time – 7/4 BoyleSports
- Rotherham +1 handicap – 13/8 bet365
The Championship returns after the international break as Rotherham United host high-flying Ipswich Town at the New York Stadium.
The Tractor Boys have been one of the pacesetters at the top of the table in the opening 11 matches of the season, winning nine games and dropping only four points in the process.
Kieran McKenna’s men will be dreaming of the possibility of back-to-back promotions, but they must sustain their momentum amid a long campaign ahead.
Rotherham are at the other end of the spectrum, winning only one of their 11 games. The Millers are sitting in 23rd place and are already four points adrift of safety.
Matt Taylor’s side need to find a run of form sooner rather than later to drag themselves away from the relegation zone. An encouraging display last time out to earn a point against Southampton on the road is something they can build on
The Millers will have to at their best to secure another positive result against one of the best teams in the Championship at 8pm on Friday, 20 October (Sky Sports Football).
Here are our predictions for the game after looking at the odds from football betting sites.
Ipswich to win and both teams to score
Ipswich have not only won nine games this term, but almost every game has been a spectacle. McKenna’s team are easy on the eye with their passing game that has breached every defence they have come across in their opening 11 games.
The Tractor Boys create chances aplenty in the final third allowing Conor Chaplin, George Hirst, Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns to feast. Brandon Williams and Leif Davis are always a danger pushing down the flanks, offering crosses and a goal threat too.
Ipswich’s willingness to attack also leaves them exposed at the back. McKenna’s team have kept five clean sheets this term, but in their six games they have not, the Tractor Boys have shipped 13 goals.
These games have included a 4-3 win over Blackburn Rovers and a 4-2 triumph over Preston North End before the international break.
Rotherham have scored 10 goals this season and have found the net in every game at the New York Stadium. So, we could have another entertaining contest in and around the box in South Yorkshire.
Given that Ipswich are carrying a seven-match unbeaten in the Championship into the fixture, we’re taking the Tractor Boys to win and both teams to score at 2/1 with BetVictor.
Tip: Ipswich to win and both teams to score – 2/1 BetVictor
Broadhead to keep up scoring form
Broadhead’s form has been extremely impressive for the Tractor Boys this term.
The former Everton centre-forward has hit the ground running in the Championship after scoring eight goals in 19 appearances in Ipswich’s run to promotion from League One.
He has already netted five goals in nine games, including strikes in back-to-back games in wins over Blackburn and Preston.
Broadhead has been on international duty with Wales and kept up his scoring touch in their 4-0 victory over Gibraltar.
Ipswich have not relied on just one goalscorer this term, which has made them dangerous. Chaplin, Hirst, Freddie Ladapo and Kayden Jackson also offer potency in the final third.
We’re taking Broadhead to continue his form at odds of 7/4 to score any time with BoyleSports.
Rotherham to keep game close
Although Rotherham are 23rd in the Championship, they’re not an easy opponent to face on their home turf.
The Millers have lost two of their six games at the New York Stadium, both of which came with late winners for Leicester City and Bristol City respectively.
Taylor’s men defeated Ipswich’s rivals Norwich City in their solitary win of the campaign and will have eyes on an East Anglian double.
Rotherham also played tough against Preston in a 1-1 draw and were in command of their opening-day clash against Blackburn before Fred Onyedinma was given a controversial red card that allowed Rovers to forge a two-goal comeback to earn a draw.
Ipswich will have to work for the three points, and that’s why we’re backing Rotherham on the handicap at +1 with 13/8 at bet365.
